Kurt Frauenpreis, MD, comes to eastern North Carolina from Washington state with more than 27 years experience in family medicine. After graduating from medical school at the American University of the Caribbean and completing an internship in general surgery and a residency in family medicine, Dr. Frauenpreis started his medical career at the Beale Air Force Base Hospital in California. He was a family medicine provider, performed minor surgery and was the director of an urgent care facility and ATH. For more than 16 years, Dr. Frauenpreis worked for a large medical group in California treating both inpatient and outpatient cases. He taught medical and nurse practitioner students in the outpatient setting.
His interests include geriatrics, pain management, medical assisted treatment programs, minor surgery, behavioral health integration and wound care. He brings years of experience in each of these fields to Martin Family Medicine and Martin General Hospital.

Dr. Frauenpreis is married with two children. He enjoys the outdoors – hiking, fishing and skiing especially – and loves a good book. He’s a sports enthusiast and an American history buff.
